Not everything about the Object of History took shape exactly as envisioned. NMAH and CHNM staff needed to modify different aspects of the project in order to best meet their goals.

Flexibility was built into the project through the plan to launch the object modules one at a time, according to the time of the school year when high school students study the corresponding era. According to the staff, spreading out the launches would enable them to “address concerns in midstream, learn lessons from experience, and make changes accordingly to improve the quality and effectiveness of the project even while it continues.”
